Terri Wright, a juror on Buju Banton’s federal drug and gun trial, may have violated court orders by doing her own research during the time of the trial. Wright says she researched certain aspects of the case to have a better grasp of them when deliberation came around. “I would get in the car, just write my notes down so I could remember, and I would come home and do the research,” she says. Standard jury instructions for federal trials tell jurors to “not attempt to research any fact, issue or law related to this case, whether by discussion with others, by library or Internet research, or by any other means or source.”Buju’s newly appointed attorney Chokwe Lumumba tells New Times. “That inappropriate behavior can certainly be basis for a new trial. If that’s the case, we certainly will pursue it.” MADAROAD
Anthony B is currently admitted at the Methodist Dallas Medical Center, Dallas TX. Saturday, October 6, he collapsed shortly after performing at a Dallas, Texas night club.
“At this time there is no confirmation from the doctors as to the exact diagnosis, but we strongly believe that Anthony B has been overworked and strongly suspect dehydration” says Ronnie Tomlinson, Anthony B’s publicist.
Reggae superstar Jah Cure, during a recent visit to Haiti to perform at a concert, was impressed by the steely confidence of the Haitian president, Michel Martelly, and moreso, Martelly’s ability to reinvent himself from a singer to a politician. “It was great to meet a musical president,” Jah Cure told The Gleaner. “When I met him at first I was surprised, he was young, fresh, powerful, full of swag. I was looking for an older man, but I really loved his energy and his story is so truly inspiring.” “He was a singer who just randomly ran for president and won, I admire that because it shows that from music, you can do and accomplish anything . He actually told me that he was going to try to come to my concert and if so, he would take the mic and do a thing,” Jah Cure said, laughing. “Yu just have to respect this man.”

A team of United States marshals arrived in Jamaica yesterday to escort dancehall artiste Busy Signal back to America, where he is to face criminal charges in the state of Minnesota. The artiste, whose real name is Glendale Gordon, recently waived his right to challenge extradition proceedings. The dancehall star had been implicated in a narcotics offence and is being extradited for failing to appear before the court to answer charges in relation to the offence, allegedly committed in 2002. ‘Busy’, as he is affectionately called by his fans worldwide, was greeted at the Norman Manley International Airport on May 21 by law-enforcement agents from the US, the United Kingdom, and Jamaica. As he stepped off the plane, the extradition warrant was executed on him.
Beenieman informed The WEEKEND STAR that his new name was now Ras Paradox, and he is set to release a number of new singles under the new moniker. According to the dancehall artiste, he is reinventing himself. I have voiced two songs already under the name Ras Paradox,” he said.
